Borderlands 2 is a new 2021 first-person shooter video game based on the world of Gearbox Software and released by 2K Games. Taking place five years after the events of the original Borderlands, the game once more puts you in the role of the protagonist, a merchant known as the Handsome Jack. The story revolves around your mission to save the planet named Pandora from the grips of Calgary. The game begins with you as a lowly courier hired by the trader Handsy to deliver critical cargo to the coordinates provided by his employer, namely, at the Hyperion Mining base on Pandora’s moon. The mission takes you through several levels on foot, sneaking around and across rooftops to finally deliver the cargo and make it to the dropship location.

Just like the first game, you now have two different paths to choose to complete your quests. The first is the “standard” route which involves trekking throughout Pandora to complete quests and go through the game’s many maps. The second is called the “Gunbound” path, which puts an emphasis on using dual guns for combat and more enemy AI to combat enemies head-on. For my money, though, the first route is the best overall as it gives you the best chance to level up your character and to do all the optional side quests.

Borderlands 2 in 2021

The first-person shooter genre has been somewhat derivative of its shooter predecessors, but Borderlands 2 takes the formula and cranks it up tenfold. The new storyline promises an even grander struggle against the armies of evil and insanity. The story is presented in first-person perspective using the PC’s camera to view the action. There is a good balance between narrative and puzzle-solving as you hunt down your prey and fight your enemies. Puzzles involve finding hidden collectibles or objects within the environment as well as upgrading your weapons and fighting skills.

The majority of the game takes place on the frontiers of a post-apocalyptic world that has been split into three factions – New Hyperion, The Handsome Division, and the Outsiders. Each section has specialties in battle and weaponry, and each struggles to maintain its hold on its empire while struggling against the other two. At the same time, the Hyperion tends to be the technologically-superior beings. For instance, in the New Hyperion, the humans are the dominant race but are also known for being cruel, greedy robots. On the other hand, the Handsome Division is made up of humans who were conditioned by the Combine to fight off the Outsiders.

Borderlands 2 features all the same first-person shooting and intense first-person melee combat that made the original game so famous, only this time with an endless supply of guns, bullets, and loot at your disposal. As you search the post-apocalyptic world for the vault where the vault dwellers were stored, you’ll find that the island is littered with gun crates, bulletproof vaults, schematics, and more. Each character class has unique skills and perks which help them gain an advantage over the other character types. There is no healing bar in this game, so you’ll have to keep shooting to stay alive.
